Hailing from three continents, INFLAME is a musical quartet (mandolin, guitar, tabla, percussion) that blends classical Indian ragas and traditional flamenco and uses it as a launching pad for adventurous improvisation.
What started as a one-off concert at a museum in New York City in 2005, ultimately became a vehicle for the exchange of ideas and cultures that has resulted in Inflame's self-titled CD. North Indian classical mandolin maestro Snehasish Mozumder, flamenco guitarist Criatian Puig, tabla player Kumar Das, and flamenco percussionist Peter Basil Bogdanos have crafted a CD that respects traditional structures while taking advantage of flights of adventurous improvisation that the forms generously grant. The result is a musical experience that has tunes with a catchy "hook" (Amigos, Charu), traditional grooves (Caminos, Kirwani) as well as meditative songs (Pali, 9 Beat) that take the listener on a journey that could only be led by these experienced tour guides.
Music workshops and residencies available on the university level.
